Theory of Knowledge lessons are a central part of the IB curriculum, where we reflect critically on diverse ways of knowing and on areas of knowledge. And the A Level students don’t miss out either, as their JIS Core lessons encourage critical thinking in philosophy, culture, ethics as well as making a difference to the environment.

Languages
At JIS learning a second language is a skill that is very much encouraged. The IB programme allows us to learn a new language from the beginning as well as build on our own language skills. Our language lessons do much more than just teach us how to speak. We also learn about the culture and history of the country, which helps us get a better overall understanding of the language.

Gold International Award (IA)
Taking part in the Gold IA means that we are fully involved in the school’s CCA programme. In order to pass the award we must take a regular leading role in service, creative and sporting based activities in and out of school. The programme culminates in an adventurous journey to the Himalayas, Africa or Sabah.

Music
At JIS we are encouraged to develop all aspects of our learning. While there are loads of sports teams to get involved with, if sport is not your thing there are opportunities to take part in all kinds of drama or musical activities. These can be individual lessons or you can be a part of our yearly musical, straight play or musical extravaganzas!
