Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care is an integral aspect of life in the Senior School that not only ties in with the curriculum but also encourages students to develop their social and interpersonal skills, and make a positive contribution to the wider community.
Our House system fosters strong, supportive friendships across year groups. Each student remains in the same House throughout their time in the Senior School, providing continuity and a sense of belonging. Central to this experience is the close relationship with their Housemaster, Housemistress or tutor, ensuring students and parents build a strong, lasting connection with the pastoral team.
The Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education programme, supported by regular assemblies, encourages students to discuss any problems or social issues and come up with constructive solutions.
The health, safety and well-being of every child at JIS is our highest priority. Our well-equipped Health Centre is staffed by a team of qualified nurses who provide care for students during the school day. Beyond immediate care, the team also contributes to the wider well-being of the school community. A strong emphasis is also placed on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB), ensuring that every child feels valued, respected and supported.
In addition, our regularly reviewed Child Protection Policy ensures that the school remains aligned with the latest laws and best practices in safeguarding.
