Jerudong International School follows a British academic year which has 3 academic terms each year - Term 1, 2 and 3. At the end of each Term is a holiday. There are also shorter, mid term holidays during each Term.

Jerudong International School is open Monday - Friday. As Brunei is a Muslim country, we have a shorter school day on a Friday and close before the prayer time. 

* Co-Curricular Activities are in addition to the above and take place before, during and after school for Reception Year level and older.

School Fees

When you apply online you will be able to select which academic year you wish to apply for e.g. current year or one of the following years. Some year levels are very popular and so parents do apply well in advance - sometimes 2-3 years before they wish their child to join JIS. However, do contact the Admissions Team and they will be able to guide you. 
 

We have different entrance assessments depending on the age of your child. These tests are an opportunity for the school to meet with you and your child to ensure they will thrive in JIS. The tests are similar to those used in UK private schools and other international schools. 

Every child is unique. Please contact our Admissions team to give us more information about your child’s specific learning needs so that we can refer your information to our Head of Learning Support for advice. If you have any medical or teacher assessments which give more information, then please do send this to the Admissions team also. Sometimes, the Admissions team will arrange for you to meet with the Head of Learning Support (via a Zoom call or in the school) so they can find out more information and be able to guide further. 

Jerudong International School has a range of English Language provision for children who speak no or very little English. This depends on how old a child is. For students entering the IGCSE, A Level or IB Diploma programme we would expect them to have a specific level of English.  Please contact us and we will be very happy to advise further. 

Jerudong International School has a Health Centre with three highly qualified nurses who look after students during the day. They work closely with the nurses in the Boarding Houses who care for the Boarding students when they are not in school. 

If your child has any medical issues, you will be able to give us more information as part of the online application. However, we are very happy to answer any questions in advance too. Please contact us and we can refer to the Head Nurse who is also happy to contact you directly and answer your questions. 

Jerudong International School has three canteens in the school which provide lunch and snacks during the school day. A separate Dining Hall is in the Boarding Community for their meals out of school hours e.g. Breakfast, Dinner and weekend meals. 

Our caterers are able to provide for a wide range of dietary requirements and work closely with our Head Nurse for any medical related dietary needs. Please do contact our Admissions team with more details so we can advise further. 
 

Jerudong International School has a school shop where families can buy the uniform and stationery.

Senior School students in Years 7-13 require some textbooks depending on year level and course. The school arranges the purchase of these and will charge parents a fee. 

Textbook Information 
 

There is no school bus system for our day students. Parents arrange transport for their children privately. If a parent is not collecting a child, then the approved adult will have to be registered with the school. 

Boarding students - please liaise with the school to find out how the school can help.  

Bruneians and students who are Permanent Residents (PR) may study in JIS without an additional Student Visa. 

Non Bruneian students will need to have either a Dependent Visa (linked to a parent who has an Employment Visa / Work Permit) or a Student Visa from the school (for Boarding students and students aged 18 years and over). 

*Please note: Brunei does not issue ‘Guardian Visas’ for a parent to stay in Brunei while their child attends the school as a day student.
